Voctave: It Feels Like Christmas Fox Tucson Theatre Concert reviews
The new WHO experience
Daltry has been taking amazing care of his voice and his vocal was clear and strong. Townshend growled out his vocals and they were stronger and clearer than in recent years. They did a sort of semi unplugged set of songs and pulled out a few deep cuts. Most of the people who had seen them before enjoyed the show including myself who have seen them live since 1973. To me it comes down to the songs. They are great rock songs and they performed them as well or better than anyone who is almost 80 years old. That doesn’t mean that it was a bad show by any means. Voctave: It Feels Like Christmas have learned to use the orchestra to do some songs they could never do correctly like “The Rock” and they also used it to rearrange some of the classics to give them a fuller sound. Fuller but not louder. Overall the concert was really enjoyable. Some of the old timers were complaining about the electric drums not realizing they were there to not overpower the orchestra. If you went to this show expecting a live 70’s type Voctave: It Feels Like Christmas show then you were in the wrong place. The utter rawness and energy was not there in the same way. However, the newer technology and sound systems that were not available in the 70’s helped to make many of the songs better than they had ever sounded before. Some of the songs have lost some rock and roll edge but others were soothing and satisfying. They did not sound anything like they did when I saw them do Quadrophenia the first time around. There were a few first timers including one who didn’t think they liked the Voctave: It Feels Like Christmas but they were stunned at how much they loved it. Voctave: It Feels Like Christmas and extra musicians and orchestra did a fantastic job. LONG LIVE ROCK!!!"
Avenged Sevenfold rock face with Disturbed
"It was a concert from the start that was good. Airstrom had a drum solo that was really good out of this world. Stone Sour then took things up a notch. Hell the Villian really got things going. Their opener once Avenged Sevenfold took stage was the coolest one I have ever seen. Then the fun really picked up with the main stage. Their songs live sounded even better than the cd's do. Voctave: It Feels Like Christmas took stage and nonstoped music from there. Once Airborne finished the small stage with a cool tribute to dimebag, the concert hit a new height of fun. I will never forget that drum solo. This was one of the best concerts I've been to in a long time. I would tell anyone in a heartbeat that they need to go out and see these guys live because it's a really good show to watch."
Great show horrible seats
Voctave: It Feels Like Christmas was great at the Pensacola Bay Center. I had a blast seeing him; would love to go again. The only issue I have is with the fold-up chairs they put as floor seats. As I said, great show, but sitting there for almost 3 hours in those not so well-padded folding chairs put me in immense pain. I have 3 herniated disks in my neck, and I'm still hurting from it today, four days later. I would love to come and see Voctave: It Feels Like Christmas again or other shows, but I would love to see some better seats somehow. Cause with those seats, I'll just have to stay home.
